![]() War also finds out that his Watcher will betray him with a sword called the Armageddon Blade which coincidentally can also be used to kill The Destroyer. War then defeats Straga and Azrael takes War to the Tree of Knowledge which tells him that the Council set him up and that The Destroyer is Abaddon who has possession of the 7th seal. Inside the Black Tower, War finds the angel Azrael who tells War that he, Abaddon, and the maker Ulthane conspired to bring the Endwar early by destroying 6 of the seals, but not the 7th which would summon the Horsemen. With the help of Samael, War gains access to the Black Tower which is the lair of The Destroyer. War learns that The Destroyer is responsible for leading the armies of Hell to destroy all of humanity and decides to seek him out. Determined to set his brother free, Death jumps into the Well of Souls with the intent of restoring humanity to Earth.īack in the first game, War is sent back to Earth by the Charred Council, only now it's a century after he had last been to Earth. After purging more corruption and obtaining the fragments, Death assembles the key and enters the Tree of Life to confront Absalom and destroy him. Once the battle is won, Death discovers that the only way to resurrect humanity is to give up the souls of the Nephilim, his people. To get to the Well of Souls, Death has to obtain two parts to a key located in Heaven and Hell. Midway through Darksiders 2, the Tree sends Death to the Land of the Dead where he meets the Lord of Bones who tells Death about the Well of Souls within the Tree of Life and how it can resurrect humanity. Death then helps the Makers uncorrupt the Forge Lands to enter the Tree of Life and learns that the source of the corruption is the Nephilim Absalom, who was killed by Death during the Nephilim war. In his death throes, the Crowfather embeds the fragments of the amulet containing the souls of the Nephilim into Death and sends him to the Forge Lands where the Tree of Life resides. The Crowfather tells Death to go to the Tree of Life to resurrect humanity, but Death kills the Crowfather when he refuses to send him there with a portal. He begins his search by venturing to the Crowfather's sanctum in the Icy Veil. It seems like after every very fun section there's a very sad section or a difficulty spike that kicks my ass sideways.Basically at the same time as the events of Darksiders 3, Death is searching for a way to undo the destruction of humanity to clear War's name in Darksiders 2. I got the staff the hot angel lady told me she's basically gonna fight till she dies, went back to heaven and now I'm in what I can only presume is the final dungeon, currently stuck on fighting some two female angels and two male angels in a building because the female angels don't seem to flinch from anything and deal a lot of damage. They told me to go to Earth, which surprising me wasn't another hub but basically I giant dungeon played as a third person shooter. Put the game away for another few months, then started again recently. Either way despite hating this section after around a week of playing it I got to the heaven area (forgot what its called) and while not visually impressive, looked a hell of a lot better than the land of the dead. At least in the Forgelands the giants were in genuine need of help and you couldn't progress until you helped them. The part where the king killed the three ghost knight guys pissed me off because I just went through this long ass fetch quest to find you, then you send me on another one, just to tell me it doesn't matter. Aesthetically it was drab and boring, story was just an endless swarm of "I won't help you till you help me", which I found dumb considering you are Death himself, you should kind of have free reign to do whatever you want in the land of the dead. I figured there would probably be two hub areas because why not. ![]() Few months later tried again, then I beat it and got to go to the land of the dead. I loved the art style and the forgelands themselves was all good fun, but I put the game away for a few months because other games came out. I liked the premise of Death trying to revive humanity to save his brother, the beginning section on the mountain where you fight your way to Crowfather and eventually get teleported to the Forgelands was a great starting point to introduce you to mechanics and get me involved with the story. I started playing it shortly after I got it. And yet despite loving all those games, I can't seem to get the same joy from D2. I heard it was like a mix of Zelda, Prince of Persia and action games like God of War or Devil May Cry. I got the game forever ago, it was free on ps plus so probably last year or beforehand.
